This intake of officers will be deployed  exclusively across the capital city as they join the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

The cohort of more than 200 were joined at their induction event by MPS Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, who attended the event as a keynote speaker.

Sir Mark shared some personal anecdotes about his policing journey, his passion for the job and his focus on the New Met for London plan to deliver more trust, less crime, and high standards.

The Commissioner answered a number of questions from the offer holders during a live Q&A panel, ranging from what they could expect as a neighbourhood officer in London, to the challenges facing the service and his vision for the future.

He then reflected on the event and the longstanding partnership between the MPS and Police Now.

Founded within the MPS in 2014 and now an independent non-profit organisation working in partnership with police forces across the country, Police Now has recruited more than 3,000 officers into the service across 36 forces in England and Wales.

Welcoming the offer holders, Police Now’s chief executive officer Kurtis Christoforides said: “You represent a milestone moment for us. You are the tenth cohort of neighbourhood constables to join policing via Police Now, and the first in a decade to start your journey wholly focused on policing London, our capital city.

“We are immensely proud to be part of your journey, and excited for what’s to come.”

He said Police Now’s mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public’s confidence in the police service by recruiting, developing and inspiring “outstanding and diverse individuals” to be leaders in society and on the policing front line.
