Serving MPS officer charged with rape
An officer from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) will today (April 29) appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of rape.
Police Constable Ireland Murdock, who is attached to the Central North Command Unit, was arrested on January 11, 2022.
The offence was reported to have happened on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Lambeth while the officer was off duty.
PC Murdock is currently suspended.
The MPS’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, as has the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The force said the alleged victim is being supported by specialist officers.
