The new officers were showered with a blizzard of confetti in New Yorks Madison Square Garden.
Commissioner Bill Bratton praised their training and diversity, adding that the recruits hail from 26 countries.
He said: You are a reflection of this city. You are the beginning of the transformation of American policing. You are the best prepared class.
