Between June and October 2021, PC Liam Williams was found to have made a number of “inappropriate comments” to female colleagues, including wrapping his arms around one of them and lifting her from her seat without consent.

It was also found that the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer, who was based in south west London, had acted in an “inappropriate manner towards the public, by shouting with the intention of shocking or frightening them”.

Williams resigned from the MPS last month.

A gross misconduct hearing, which concluded last week, ruled that had he still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed.

He was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct, Equality and Diversity, and Authority, Respect and Courtesy.

Chief Superintendent Steve Lemon in charge of policing in south west BCU, covering Richmond, Wandsworth, Merton, and Kingston, said: “We demand the highest standards from officers within the Met and we have been clear about this. We must maintain these standards in order to increase the trust that our communities have in us.

“Former PC Williams’s behaviour has fallen far below the standards and had he still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed.”

The former officer will be now added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing.
