Chief constable of South Wales Police to join Metropolitan Police Service as AC
The chief constable of South Wales Police, Matt Jukes, is to join the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) as assistant commissioner.
Mr Jukes, who has led the Welsh force since January 2018, will replace Assistant Commission Mark Simmons who retired during the summer.
MPS Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said: “I am delighted that Matt will be joining the Met.
“Matt is a highly successful chief constable and has held a number of important national policing roles. I know Matt will make a great addition to the Met’s leadership team.”
Mr Jukes said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Metropolitan Police over many years, operationally and on several areas of national work.
“I am therefore delighted, and it is a real privilege to join the Met as a member of the Commissioner’s leadership team. I look forward to working alongside colleagues to keep London safe.”
Mr Jukes is expected to take up his appointment in November.
Initially, and for a limited period, he will provide leadership to the Met’s ambitious transformation portfolio following the planned retirement of Transformation Director Peter Fox.
