A ticker tape ceremony marked the graduation of more than 1,200 recruits from the NYPD Police Academy.

The new officers were showered with a blizzard of confetti in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Commissioner Bill Bratton praised their training and diversity, adding that the recruits hail from 26 countries.

He said: “You are a reflection of this city. You are the beginning of the transformation of American policing. You are the best prepared class.”
