Warwickshire PCC names Emma Bond as preferred candidate for chief constable
Warwickshire police and crime commissioner Philip Seccombe has named Emma Bond MBE as his preferred candidate to become the force’s next chief constable.
Bond is currently seconded to the National Police Chiefs’ Council from Police Scotland, where she has served since 2022, most recently as Assistant Chief Constable for Local Policing. She brings 23 years of policing experience in Northern Ireland and was awarded an MBE for services to policing and the community in 2019.
Her selection follows a recruitment process that included engagement with workforce and partner stakeholders before a final panel interview chaired by Seccombe and supported by an independent member and a chief constable from another force.
Bond will now appear before the Warwickshire Police and Crime Panel for a public confirmation hearing, expected on 13 July, before any formal appointment is made. David Gardner continues to lead the force as Acting Chief Constable in the interim.
Seccombe said Bond had “stood out” throughout the assessment process, demonstrating “clear leadership, a strong understanding of the demands of modern policing, and a commitment to delivering for the public.”
