Danyal Hussein, 18, from Blackheath, southeast London, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (July 2), charged with two counts of murder and a further count of possession of an offensive weapon.

The bodies were discovered on Sunday, June 7, when officers were called to Freyent Park just after 1pm. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Last week two officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) were arrested and on suspicion of misconduct in a public office after allegations emerged that they had taken selfies with the murder victims while at the crime scene. A spokesperson for the MPS said the force was: “horrified and disgusted by the allegations”.

More than 25,000 people have signed a petition calling for the officers involved to face criminal charges.
