The audit, published in June 2025, found that too many victims had not been listened to, believed or adequately supported. In response, the Child Sexual Exploitation Taskforce has worked alongside the NPCC, the Tackling Organised Exploitation programme and the National Centre for VAWG and Public Protection to strengthen victim-centred approaches and support forces in complex investigations.

Operation Beaconport, led by the National Crime Agency in partnership with the CSE Taskforce, has brought together operational learning and victim and survivor insight to improve the collective response.

A/Chief Constable Becky Riggs, NPCC lead for Child Protection and Abuse Investigation, said the focus remained on ensuring victims and survivors were “at the centre of every decision.”

“We recognise there is more to do,” she added. “We remain committed to learning, to listening, and to making lasting change.”

No performance data or case outcomes were published alongside the anniversary statement.
