Police vehicle involved in fatal collision
A pedestrian has died after being involved in a collision with a police vehicle in London.
Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers from its Serious Collision Investigation Unit are dealing with the collision that took place in Mitcham, south-west London on Wednesday (June 5).
The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 60s, was treated by London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A MPS spokesperson said a marked police vehicle responding to an emergency call was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on Western Road, Mitcham at around 11:30am.
The man’s next-of-kin are in the process of being informed.
The MPS’s Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Office for Police Conduct have been notified.
