At around 5.30am on Thursday morning (August 2), a BMW collided at a junction between Bingley Road and Toller Lane in Bradford.

The road has been cordoned off and is likely to remain closed for most of the day.

The incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has launched an investigation into the incident.

IOPC Regional Director Miranda Biddle said: “This is a most tragic incident and our sympathies are with the family and friends of those who have died.

“West Yorkshire Police made a mandatory referral to the IOPC and at 6.24am we declared an independent investigation. Our investigators are attending post incident procedures, have travelled to the scene and have begun gathering evidence.”

The fatal collision on Thursday marks the third incident of a death occurring from a police pursuit in four days.

On July 29, a black Audi A3 that was believed to be stolen collided with another vehicle following a short pursuit in Birmingham and an innocent woman was killed.

And on Tuesday (July 31), a 64-year-old taxi driver died after he was struck by a Vauxhall Mokka being pursued in Denton, Greater Manchester.
