Pedestrian dies in police collision

A man has died after being struck by an unmarked police vehicle.

Cheshire Constabulary has referred the incident in Penketh on Monday to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The force said the collision on Warrington Road took place at 7.20pm.

“The pedestrian – a man – died at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing at this time,” it added.

“In line with normal procedure the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”

Cheshire Constabulary has appealed for witnesses and road closures have ended.
