Ovation Systems builds on success of digital video recorders with second generation AfterBurner-2

Ovation Systems is building on the success of its evidentially-secure digital video recorders with a two-year contract worth £700,000 to supply the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) with its second generation AfterBurner-2.

This is the second major agreement between Ovation Systems and the MPS, having previously supplied its AfterBurner-1, a time-lapse DVD video recorder specifically designed for police surveillance, to replace the force’s ageing time-lapse VCRs.

Several thousand AfterBurner-1s are in use by UK police forces and many other law enforcement agencies around the world. Such was the commercial and technical success of AfterBurner-1, Ovation Systems was presented with a Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2008.

The new AfterBurner-2 retains all the key features of its predecessor with the addition of an internal four-camera video quad with zone motion detection. Connectivity has been enhanced with USB2 interfaces for local viewing and file download, together with an ethernet port for remote control and configuration over the internet.

AfterBurner-2 is ideal for long-term, evidentially-sensitive, serious and organised crime surveillance operations and meets the Digital Imaging Guidelines set out by the Home Office.
