Louey Kostromin, 36, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (August 8) also facing a charge of assaulting a police officer in the execution of his or her duty.

He has been remanded in custody and is due for sentencing on September 5.

Officers were called to an incident in Northampton on Monday (August 6), where an altercation occurred.

One officer sustained bite injuries to his ear while another was punched in the face. The officer had to undergo surgery to reattach the missing part of his ear.

Chief Constable Nick Adderley tweeted: “Yesterday evening one of our officers had part of his ear bitten off whilst trying to arrest an offender.

“Surgery today has been successful and I have just come off the phone to him to offer any further support. Offender charged section 18 assault and remanded.

“The officer is in good spirits and has full Fed and force support. Abhorrent and totally unacceptable.”
