Metropolitan Police Service officers attempted to stop a car in Walthamstow, North East London early on Sunday morning (October 21).

The driver, who police say was in his thirties, was then involved in a collision with a lorry and pronounced dead at the scene.

Because he had been asked to stop by police prior to the collision, the MPS has confirmed that the Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an independent investigation.

There were no other injuries from the collision.
