Leicestershire officer fined for careless driving
An officer from Leicestershire Police has been fined £100 for careless driving following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Police Constable Charlotte Parry – who pleaded guilty at a hearing at Loughborough Magistrates Court in September – was responding to a Grade 1 call for assistance when the police van she was driving collided with a Subaru car on March 18, 2021 on the A47 King Richards Road in Leicester.
A passenger in the car, a man in his 40s, was left with life changing injuries after the van hit the front of his car.
The IOPC investigation began in March 2021 following a mandatory referral from Leicestershire Police and looked into the manner of PC Parry’s driving.
Following discussions between the IOPC and Leicestershire Police, it was agreed that PC Parry had a case to answer for misconduct. It will now be for the force to take forward disciplinary proceedings.
