Jo Noakes appointed interim College of Policing CEO
Jo Noakes has been appointed interim chief executive of the College of Policing.
Ms Noakes, previously the College’s chief operating officer, takes over the organisation’s day-to-day leadership as it continues a fundamental review of its role and work.
She has worked at the College since 2018, holding a number of senior positions before becoming chief operating officer. Her previous responsibilities have included professional development, leadership and organisational transformation.
She will work with the College board and its chair, Lord Herbert, while a permanent chief executive is recruited.
Her appointment follows the announcement that Sir Andy Marsh is joining HMICFRS as Chief Inspector.
Lord Herbert said Ms Noakes brought “extensive experience and knowledge of policing” to the role and would provide continuity while the recruitment process takes place.
The College is currently reviewing its work and how it supports policing, following a call for evidence and engagement with officers, staff and other stakeholders.
The organisation said the interim appointment would ensure continuity as it continues to support policing through a period of significant change.
