IOPC investigates alleged MPS failures in Simon Levy case
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating alleged failures by Metropolitan Police officers in their management of registered sex offender Simon Levy.
The investigation began in January following a voluntary conduct referral from the Met concerning the management of Levy by two officers after his release from prison on licence in February 2023.
The IOPC is examining the management of Levy from his first conviction in September 2021 until his arrest in September 2025.
It is investigating whether action could or should have been taken to prevent him from reoffending, and whether officers involved in his management followed relevant policies, procedures and training.
The watchdog is also considering whether the case identifies learning or the need for changes at an individual, force or national level.
A gross misconduct notice has been served on a police constable and a misconduct notice on a detective sergeant.
The IOPC stressed that the serving of conduct notices does not necessarily mean disciplinary proceedings will follow.
Its investigation remains ongoing.
