The force was recognised for developing a more proactive, evidence-led occupational health service, including a bespoke Health Needs Assessment (HNA) programme designed to identify differences in workforce needs across its sites.

The programme brings together occupational health, safety and wellbeing staff with colleagues from across the organisation to build a clearer picture of employees’ needs and develop targeted action plans.

The CNC has also become the second police force nationally to achieve Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) accreditation, which recognises standards in occupational health service provision.

Emma Aldred, the CNC’s head of occupational health, safety and wellbeing, said the award recognised the team’s work to improve support for officers and staff.

She said the force would continue to listen to its workforce, develop its services and respond to employees’ needs.

The Oscar Kilo Awards recognise initiatives intended to improve the welfare and wellbeing of police officers and staff across the UK.

The CNC is responsible for protecting civil nuclear sites and nuclear materials, as well as policing other critical infrastructure. Its workforce includes armed officers working in specialist operational roles.
