Ms Durkin joined Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) in 2019 when she was appointed for an initial three-year term. This appointment was extended in 2022 for a further two years.

The Chief Inspector was reappointed for a second and final term by the Minister of Justice, Naomi Long MLA, following an open competition.

“I am very pleased to have been reappointed for a second term as Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice. I am grateful to all the CJI team for their professionalism and support and look forward to continuing our work together,” said Ms Durkin.

“It is a privilege to serve as Chief Inspector, particularly in CJI’s 20th anniversary year, and I am committed to continuing our legacy of inspecting for improvement and working to deliver a better justice system for all.”
