ESRI (UK), specialists in geographic information systems (GIS), has launched CrimeAnalyst version 1.6, a GIS software solution for creating, analysing and publishing crime statistics in line with the Governments crime mapping requirements outlined in its recent Green Paper.
The software allows police forces to collect, combine, visualise, analyse and share crime information in real-time, going beyond traditional crime hotspotting software to deliver in-depth, live location-based intelligence in line with the UKs National Intelligence Model (NIM) framework.
Simon Cottingham, public safety strategist at ESRI (UK), said: This latest release of CrimeAnalyst provides a new level of capability for users, both here in the UK and internationally. The ability to not only create better results faster but to also more easily share these results with the public will be of major benefit.
CrimeAnalyst 1.6 can interact with web applications such as Microsoft Live or Google Maps, and online viewers including Geowises Instant Atlas, to publish crime maps online.
Other updates include:
Quicker hotspot crime mapping results, allowing analysts to interrogate specific data for longer periods or for wider geographical areas in the same time.
Improved support for working on international projections, benefiting police forces collaborating internationally in tackling serious and organised crime.
