A teenager who jumped out of a speeding stolen vehicle became trapped under the police car which was following it through a Leeds housing estate.

West Yorkshire Police said the 15-year-old boy was driving a red Ford Escort in the Gipton area late on Sunday night. During the pursuit, the driver leapt out of the Escort as it proceeded “at speed” along Coldcotes Grove.

He was treated at Leeds General Infirmary for a dislocated pelvis.

Officers said the Ford Escort was subsequently reported stolen from an address close to the scene of the incident.
