Managed security services provider and Information Assurance specialist, Vistorm, has announced its involvement in the Police National Network 3 (PNN3) Framework Arrangement in partnership with Cable&Wireless.

As part of the arrangement Vistorm will provide secure remote access for laptops and mobile devices in use across UK Forces, allowing police working out in the community to access and transmit vital information quickly, safely and securely.

Dan Turner, general manager, professional services, Vistorm comments: “Mobile working and its subsequent security is not only a corporate issue, it has now spread into the public sector space.

“As a trusted Cable&Wireless partner we are extremely proud to be part of the PNN3 Framework Arrangement and look forward to working with them and the Police IT Organisation (PITO) to provide secure remote access for UK police forces.”

Martin Goodman, director of public sector, Cable&Wireless adds: “PNN3 is an exciting and necessary development in the drive towards a modern police service.

“It is an important advancement for the way UK policing is carried out as it facilitates greater communication between forces and secure access to centralised data.”

PITO has awarded its Telecommunications and Data contract to Cable&Wireless in a framework deal over a five-year term. The Police National Network 3 enables Cable&Wireless to provide secure managed voice, data, video, hosting and internet services to all police forces in the UK, as well as more than 100 organisations in the wider criminal justice system.

The aim of the PNN3 Arrangement is to allow forces to share data securely, meeting the Government’s agenda for more “joined-up policing”, prompted by the Bichard Enquiry.
