The impact of e-crime on business will be the central focus of the second annual e-crime summit that will take place on January 25th at the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen.

Speakers at the event will include Tony Neate, industry liaison officer at the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU), Det Supt Chris Corcoran of North Wales Police (chairman of the Wales eCrime Steering Group), Peter Bonner, e-crime specialist of HSBC Bank, and Rehman Noormohamad, partner at Morgan Cole Solicitors. The keynote address will be given by Ed Gibson, former FBI agent and now chief security adviser for Microsoft UK.

After the inaugural event that took place in February of last year, the e-crime Wales Manifesto was developed. The aims of the manifesto are to make Wales the safest place in Europe to do electronic business. Det Supt Corcoran said: “This is a very real problem for business. At last year’s summit no fewer than 50% of delegates had been victims of e-crime. Detection is only a small part of the response. We must focus clearly on prevention and that means businesses, law enforcement and government working in an effective partnership. That’s why it’s important that firms of all kinds make the effort to attend this milestone summit.” More information about the event can be obtained on its website at: http://tinyurl.com/c3c7y.
