It will house the Crime Management centre, the Operations Department and Case Building Team, and will be responsible for policing stations and trains in south London and the southern home counties.

A £30m capital funding package has also been announced for the London South BTP, intended to provide a range of new technology and equipment for the area in which 46 per cent of all robberies on the rail system occur.

The money will be used to install modern communications equipment, renew voice and data networks, continue standardisation of information systems with other police forces and implement a vehicle replacement programme and purchase additional counter terrorism vehicles.
