A police Land Rover parked on the street overnight has been painted silver by vandals.

The vehicle was left in Hebden Bridge, near Halifax and was targeted between 9pm on Monday (October 10) and 4:45am the next morning.

The car was completely covered in silver paint, including the windows and the wheels.

The force said it did not have a dedicated car park for police vehicles in the town and the Land Rover had been parked in the same location before without incident.

Inspector John Simpson said: “Some people might find this funny but the extent of the damage means that this vital emergency vehicle will be off the road whilst it is repaired at a cost.

“It is a specialist vehicle used to access the more rural areas of Calderdale and as such is an essential vehicle for the local communities.”
