Officers investigating the attempted abduction of an RAF serviceman have released an e-fit of the suspects in a potential terror incident.
Officers investigating the attempted abduction of an RAF serviceman in a potential terror incident have released an e-fit of the suspects.
The victim was threatened at knifepoint as he jogged along a commonly used route near RAF Marham on July 20.
One suspect made an attempt to grab him and force him into a car, but the victim managed to wrestle his attacker to the ground and escaped as the other man went to help his accomplice.
The two suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured people carrier possibly containing more people and so far have not been located.
Norfolk Constabulary has now launched a public appeal to help locate the offenders.
We know that our victim is a member of RAF personnel and we are still investigating how much relevance this has to his attempted abduction, said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Durham.
It is probable that there would have been a degree of planning involved and in order to achieve this, it is quite possible that there was at least one other person involved.
Investigators were unable to rule out terrorism as a potential motive for the attempted abduction, but are also looking into other lines of inquiry.
The first suspect is described as aged 20-30, roughly six feet tall, of athletic but stocky build, with dark hair and a well-groomed beard.
He may have been left with a black eye and other facial injuries after the serviceman fought him off.
The second suspect is within the same age range but younger and slimmer than his accomplice. He is approximately 5ft ten, and clean-shaven with short dark hair.
Anyone with information about the two men is encouraged to call Norfolk Constabulary on 101 or the hotlines 0800 056 0154 or 0207 158 0011.
