In a statement issued today (November 13), Merseyside Police confirmed that a 39 year-old man has been charged with assisting an offender following the murder of PC Phillips in the early hours of Monday October 5, 2015.
Glen Nicholas Campbell Jones, of Wheatland Lane, Wallasey, was charged and remanded in custody.
He will appear before South Sefton Magistrates court tomorrow, Saturday November 14.
PC Phillips was hit by a Mitsubishi pick-up truck while trying to use a stinger device on the vehicle taken in a burglary. The 34-year-old officer died in hospital shortly after the incident.
Clayton Williams, 18, is accused of murdering PC Phillips, attempting to wound another police officer, aggravated theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.
A second man, Phillip Stuart, 30, has been charged with burglary and aggravated taking of a vehicle.
Georgia Clarke, 19, Dawn Cooper, 34, and Michael Smith, 19, have been charged with assisting an offender.
