The four forces in the Yorkshire and Humber region – Humberside, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire – are looking to fit mobile CCTV equipment in a variety of police vehicles.

A tender has been issued by the police and crime commissioner for West Yorkshire, on behalf of the Yorkshire and the Humber regional police procurement team, for a system that can produce “high-quality footage for evidential purposes” in court that is “reliable and simple and easy to use, with a high level of aftersales support”.

Systems will initially be installed in around 80 vehicles, with “scope to fit into additional vehicles as and when the need arises over the course of the two-year contract”, which is expected to commence in September.

The contract, valued at between £300,000 and £400,000, is for a “cost-effective solution” using the “newest technology as it is released, so future-proofing the whole system”.

Equipment will be fitted in-house by the regional vehicle preparation centre.
