Two men who were found guilty of helping gunman Raoul Moat are due to be sentenced later today.

Karl Ness and Qhuram Awan were convicted on Friday at Newcastle Crown Court in relation to the shootings by Moat in July last year.

Ness was found guilty of the murder of Chris Brown, the partner of Moat`s ex-girlfriend Samantha Stobbart.

Both men were found guilty of the attempted murder of PC David Rathband, conspiracy to murder and robbery.

26-year-old Ness was also convicted of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Awan, 23, was cleared of that charge.

PC Rathband was left blinded when Moat shot him in the face while Ms Stobbart was left seriously injured and needed hospital treatment.

Following the shootings, a manhunt got underway for 37-year-old Moat. He died after a six-hour stand-off with armed officers in Northumberland on July 10.
