Two men have received prison sentences for the attempted murder of a police officer.
Michael Mitchell, 32, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempting to murder police constable Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Turhan Mah-Wing, 21, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life and dangerous driving.
Mitchell and Mah-Wing were arrested in August 2008 after they failed to stop their vehicle for police. During a subsequent foot chase, Mitchell pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired at PC Callow, who was only five metres away. Mitchell missed PC Callow and continued to run, pursued by the officer.
Mitchell was later detained after a violent struggle, having been found hiding under a vehicle in a nearby pub car park. The handgun was recovered along with quantities of crack cocaine, cannabis and a knife.
During this time Mah-Wing was detained in his vehicle.
PC Callow was commended for his bravery and professionalism at the Inner London Crown Court.
