Tributes have been made to a North Wales PC who died in a tragic accident while wakeboarding at a north Wales beach.
PC Stephen Nesfield, 48-years-old from Waunfawr, the Community Beat Manager in Penygroes in the Nantlle Valley, died on Monday while out with family and friends on a beach near Caernarfon.
The officer was on a wake board being towed by a jet ski off Dinas Dinlle beach at the time when the driver noticed that he had fallen into the water. He was brought to shore and an ambulance called which took him to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
This incident is not being treated as a criminal matter.
PC Nesfield is survived by his wife and three children.
Chief Superintendent Gareth Pritchard, Commander of the Western Division where the officer worked said: “PC Stephen Nesfield was a gentleman and true community officer. He was the Community Beat Manager in Penygroes for a number of years and he was well liked and respected within his area. He was very popular with his colleagues and will be sorely missed.
“Our thoughts are with his family.”
