Staff in pubs, clubs, restaurants and businesses across Northamptonshire are showing their support for a campaign to reduce violence by wearing T-shirts designed by the winners of a Schools’ County Challenge.

Pupils from Weavers School in Wellingborough won the Dragons’ Den-themed competition run by the Arson Task Force in July with their T-shirt design ‘One punch can take a life.’

The competition showcased a film ‘One Punch can Kill’ based on the consequences of a single violent act, showing how Stuart Martin, from Wellingborough, was killed by one punch whilst on a night out in Northamptonshire in 2010.

Chief Inspector Andy Cox said: “The T-shirts carry such a strong and visible message and we saw this as a great

opportunity to maximise the number of people talking and thinking about the consequences of violence. The response has been overwhelming with a huge number of premises taking part.

“The T-shirts also had a great response at the Operation Challenge stand at the force Open Day at headquarters last Saturday, with hundreds of people stopping to chat with our officers and we will be taking them along to Freshers’ Week to engage with students.”
