Criminal justice software specialist STL Technologies is further strengthening its established partnership with Microsoft by developing its latest application using the .NET framework to support the UK’s police forces’ drive for efficiency savings, better governance and easier IT administration.

LiBiS.NET, STL’s evidential drink-drive testing product, is already used widely by UK police forces. The software facilitates compliance with the DfT’s drink-drive guidelines ensuring that a robust case is presented in court.

The company is now extending LiBiS.NET so that it is faster, more secure, flexible and readily accessible. STL developed and tested two concepts in Java and .NET, then selected the Microsoft platform because the proof of concept delivered a better user experience, notably through .NET’s improved user interface capabilities. The .NET framework enables STL to be more flexible in form creation, ensuring LiBiS.net easily keeps pace with legislation changes.

Richard Perkins, sales and marketing director, STL Technologies said: “We’re proud to be a longstanding Microsoft Gold partner and are working closely with Microsoft to ensure that UK police forces can leverage any enterprise licence agreements that they enjoy. We’re convinced offering new applications such as LiBiS.NET will deliver the improved value that police forces need, now and in the future.”

Andrew Hawkins, worldwide head of Public Safety Solutions, Microsoft, added: “Criminal justice systems around the world face the same challenges as other public sector and private organisations. Solutions that simplify processes and ensure accuracy, such as LiBiS.NET, provide law enforcement officials with tools that can deliver substantial cost savings and efficiencies. Trusted partners such as STL Technologies help police forces implement the right technologies to support operational effectiveness, and we look forward to supporting STL more closely with our expertise and reputation for delivery of value through technology innovation.”
