The Scottish Police Services Authority has teamed up with Xerox in a bid to save up to £500,000 over the next five years.
Working through the Procurement Scottish Framework, Xerox won the contract to replace the SPSAs monochrome and colour digital print equipment.
Due to the amount that the SPSA prints, the partnership will help to improve efficiency and make substantial cost savings for printing and document production.
The SPSA produces educational material for the Colleges national training courses for Scottish Police and other material which may need to be distributed, e.g. public awareness campaign leaflets.
Three new machines have been installed by Xerox at the SPSAs central facility. A new system has also been installed which allows for the recording of materials and staff time used.
More printing can now be done as a result of the Xerox partnership and the quality will be higher.
John McCroskie, Head of Corporate Communications for SPSA said, We have a duty to make sure that the public purse is being used wisely. We recognised that any replacement of our legacy printers would need to drive down costs and help reduce our unit cost for the production of printed materials. By working our way through the tender process using the Procurement Scotland framework, Xerox were identified as the most efficient technology partner to deliver the hardware that we needed. The provision of a strong support team throughout the contract lifetime was also an important factor for us.
