Special Constable dismissed for gross misconduct
A Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Special Constable has been dismissed without notice following an allegation of sexual assault.
Gross misconduct was proven for SC Carlos Correia, of the West Area Policing Command at a disciplinary hearing last week.
The hearing followed an investigation into allegations of two counts of sexual assault on a female colleague, which reportedly occurred outside of work.
Criminal proceedings were launched in January 2022 by the MPS, which concluded in February 2023. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, no further action was taken.
An investigation by the MPS’s Directorate of Professional Standards then took place which determined SC Correia should face a gross misconduct hearing.
Last week’s hearing found that he had breached police standards of professional behaviour for discreditable conduct proven at gross misconduct.
He was dismissed without notice.
Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall said: “I commend the bravery of the officer, who reported SC Correia to police.
“Although SC Correia has faced no further criminal action, his behaviour fell well below what we expect of our officers.”
