South East regional allowance agreed for crime squad officers

Chris Riley, Head of HR at the Crime Squad, said: After months of negotiation with the Home Office and PNB officials we have now obtained approval to our proposals. While we had to amend our original proposals in order to obtain acceptance, this still represents a significant step forward.
The approved proposals are underpinned by the national agreement on regional allowances with particular no detriment provisions in recognition of the Crime Squads special needs. Essentially, officers joining the Squad from Forces paying a regional allowance will continue to receive payment on a no detriment basis. However, officers posted to branches sited in an area attracting a higher regional allowance will receive the higher amount. The allowance structure is:
_ Posted to location in Central London: £1881 p.a. + £1011 if joined police service prior to September 1, 1994, or £4338 if joined on or after September 1, 1994
_ Posted to location in Essex, Kent, Thames Valley, Her ts, Surrey: £2,000 p.a. if joined on September 1, 1994
_ Posted to location Hampshire, Bedfordshire or Sussex: £1,000 p.a. if joined on or after September 1, 1994
