Sir Ken heading down under
Sir Ken Jones is to become the new deputy commissioner of Victoria Police in Australia.

Sir Ken Jones is to become the new deputy commissioner of Victoria Police in Australia.
The outgoing president of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) was appointed this week to take charge of the states crime unit, a job previously carried out by the forces Commissioner, Simon Overland. Sir Ken will take up his new role on July 1.
Sir Ken is the second British man to be appointed to the role. The first was Peter Ryan who held it between 1996 and 2001.
Sir Ken was originally aiming for the job of Chief Commissioner, but missed out to Mr Overland.
Appointed alongside Sir Ken is the states current Assistant Commissioner Ken Lay.
Sir Kens experience as a former corruption investigator in Hong Kong is expected make him an integral part in an anti-corruption drive instigated by Mr Overland and his predecessor, former police Commissioner Christine Nixon.
Sir Ken said he saw himself as a progressive police officer and wanted to make fighting organised crime a priority.
Mr Overland said Sir Ken would be a great asset to Victoria Police: Mr Jones will bring a wealth of experience and insight to Victoria Police. He has a long career which has included working in three diverse police organisations with many challenges. He has earned a reputation for providing a strong policing service at local, regional and national levels. He has a strong background in working on crime issues, particularly organised crime.
He has a unique set of skills he walked the beat for eight years, investigated homicides, served in three police organisations, tackled corruption in Hong Kong and has held a key national role, including a focus on terrorism during a critical period. I am pleased that he has decided to make Melbourne home.
The field of candidates was particularly strong. This was truly an international search and I am pleased that we could bring in two very strong leaders to help drive forward the organisation, particularly as we head into challenging times.
