The draft plan, ‘Equality in Action – Delivering Effective and Trusted Policing for Ethnic Minority Communities, Officers and Staff’, aims to “create an environment of positive inclusion, regardless of background”.

The PSNI said it will provide a comprehensive plan designed to address and build a more equitable and inclusive police service and improve its response to people from ethnic minority communities.

Launching the consultation, PSNI lead for People and Organisational Development, Assistant Chief Officer Clare Duffield, said: “This plan recognises the impact of race and ethnicity on interactions between the police and the communities we serve.

“It seeks to foster trust, promote justice, promote good relations, remove barriers, tackle discrimination and create an environment of positive inclusion, regardless of background.”

The consultation closes on Monday December 16.
