Attackers who threw a petrol bomb at a police vehicle in Northern Ireland have been condemned for their actions.
No injuries or damage has been reported by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) following the incident at Carrickfergus, County Antrim in the early hours of Sunday (May 22).
Officers were attending a road accident just after 1am in the Castlemara Drive area of the town, which is 11 miles from Belfast city centre.
PSNI Inspector Mick Wood said: “The police service belongs to the whole community and police officers are there to serve and protect the whole community.
“A police officer should never come under attack while simply doing their job.
There were no injuries or damage caused, however this attack should be condemned.
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council SDLP Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop said: “No one should come under attack in this society for simply doing their job.
Those behind this sinister crime have nothing to offer the people of County Antrim.”
