A plaque presentation by IiP lead assessor David Turner to Chief Constable Tim Brain has underlined Gloucestershire Constabulary’s status as one of the few forces to have achieved corporate IiP accreditation.

The IiP standard was granted following a rigorous inspection of the force’s strategies and policies, and interviews carried out with staff and officers from many departments.

Dr Brain said: “Under Vision5, my ambitious five year strategic development plan for the organisation, I set out my aim of achieving IiP accreditation, and at the time it seemed a very ambitious aim indeed.

“The IiP standard is not something that is achieved without a great deal of effort on the behalf of a great number of people, and we are rightly very proud to have been granted the IiP standard.

“Achieving accreditation is another example of how Gloucestershire is a leading force in the country, and why we should remain an independent constabulary.

“The fact we have been awarded such an accolade only supports our view, based on firm evidence, that we are a strong performing force, fully capable of meeting the county’s policing needs.

“It is particularly appropriate that we are unveiling the plaque at our new headquarters, which in itself is now a permanent reminder of the force’s ambitious and progressive outlook.

“Our work does not stop here. We will continue to strive towards excellence in our performance strategies and staff management and will aim to retain our IiP accreditation in years to come.”
