PCSO murder trial to begin in May

A man accused of murdering a police and community support officer (PCSO) will stand trial in May.

Julia James, 53, a PCSO with Kent Police, was found dead in woods close to her home in Snowdown, Kent, with her Jack Russell, Toby, by her side on April 27, 2021.

Callum Wheeler, 22, is accused of killing her by inflicting serious head injuries.

The defendant, from Aylesham, in Kent, has previously pleaded not guilty to murder.

During a pre-trial hearing today (March 4), Ms Justice Cheema-Grubb confirmed a four-week trial at Canterbury Crown Court would begin on May 9, having been postponed last year.
