PCCs will need to swear public oath
Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) will have to swear an oath in public before taking office.

Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) will have to swear an oath in public before taking office.
The proposal, first put forward by the chair of the Association of Police Authority Chief Executives (APACE) and Association of Police Authorities (APA) and supported by chief constables, would mean victorious candidates will be required to publically pledge to represent all their constituents without fear or favour.
The announcement was made by Policing Minister Nick Herbert at the Association of Chief Police Officers conference in Manchester last week.
The oath would require secondary legislation to be enacted.
