IEM Technologies Ltd, Allen-Vanguard, The CBRN Team and Planit EOD Ltd are to launch the IEM Hazard Management Consortium that will offer rapid deployment solutions for CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological/ nuclear, explosive) incidents.

The new consortium will supply, on demand, full remedial decontamination capabilities to military and commercial organisations who do not have the necessary equipment, materials, skills or experienced personnel readily available to back up those first at the scene.

CBRNE attacks typically mean that the environment that victims are evacuated from is heavily contaminated. This must be dealt with before they can return to their homes or work places. The police and other emergency services would initially respond to assess the situation, but it is the responsibility of the property owners to clean up any remaining contamination. The IEM Hazard Management Consortium aims to offer a one-call service for these owners who need to clean up after a CBRNE incident.

The organisations in the consortium bring their own specialist skills and equipment. Planit OED will provide the disposal of munitions services and Allen-Vanguard will supply essential equipment including its patented CASCAD foam for decontaminating bio-chemical agents.

Peter Codman, managing director of IEM Technologies Ltd, said: “With the advent of an increased risk of CBRN terrorist attacks worldwide, IEM has taken proactive steps to help organisations respond to CBRNE threats immediately. Together with our strategic partners, we aim to offer the evaluation, training, equipment, logistics, and tactical response end-users need to efficiently deal with a threat situation as safely as possible.”
