Police officers of all ranks, along with support staff and senior managers, were recognised for their bravery, dedication and commitment in the Queens New Years Honours, with a Knighthood for ACPO President Chris Fox among the highlights.
Mr Fox, who will finish his terms as President of ACPO this year after six years in post, said: I am honoured, but while I receive this recognition with pride, many others have supported me family, friends and colleagues. It is really the work of operational police staff we should recognise I do, with admiration and my total support.
Jan Berry, Chairman of the Police Federation, was also mentioned in the Honours list, as one of 23 officers to receive the Queens Police Medal.
And the officers and emergency workers who helped victims of the July 7 bombings in London were also honoured, along with those who led the investigations into the attacks; they included an MBE for British Transport Police PC Deborah Russell-Fenwick, who helped victims of the Tavistock Place bus bomb, and Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, the head of the Anti-Terrorist Branch who led the investigation into the attacks, was made an OBE.
