Former Police Constable Justin Lott admitted three counts of theft at Cardiff Crown Court this week after taking £29,000 from South Wales Police’s athletics funds.

The case against his wife, Police Constable Sharyn Lott, who helped him run the South Wales Police Central Divisional Athletic Club before he resigned from the force, was dropped.

Mr Lott was released on bail ahead of a sentencing date scheduled for September.

The three counts of theft relate to the loss of £9,280, £10,929 and £10,542 between February 2012 and April 2016.

Mr Lott denied three counts of false accounting and another two thefts over the period.

His wife will face a formal disciplinary process later this year.
