New Scottish Justice Secretary announced

Keith Brown, the depute leader of the SNP has been appointed as the Justice Secretary following a Cabinet reshuffle by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Mr Brown was economy, jobs and fair work secretary between 2016 and 2018. Before entering politics he was a Royal Marine and served in the Falklands War. He graduated with a degree in politics from Dundee University.

Mr Brown will take on responsibility for reform of the justice system and also work to reduce reoffending.

Mr Brown replaces Humza Yousaf who has been moved to head up the Health Department. Mr Yousaf will have responsibility for the NHS. His portfolio will also cover the establishment of the National Care Service.
