The Centre for Integrated Photonics (CIP) and Ipswich Optical Fibre have announced they will be working on new products now that they are independent of their previous owners.

They have appointed AMS Technologies as their pan-European distributor.

One of the devices that will be under development will be a DNA analyser chip that could eventually be used at the actual scene of crime.

Ray Taylor, CIP’s Business Development Manager, said: “CIP now has a large portfolio of optical components for fibre optic communications, backed by a strong engineering oriented organisation.

“The technical sales engineering and logistics resources added by our agreement with AMS is a great fit, giving us the means to introduce our technology to the research labs, telcos and cable network companies who are developing optical networking systems.”
