New knife arches crack down on violent crime

Officers in Hertfordshire have been clamping down on knife and other related night-time offences in Watford High Street.

Officers in Hertfordshire have been clamping down on knife and other related night-time offences in Watford High Street.

Operation Twitch made use of two new knife ‘detector’ arches at two popular town venues to catch people carrying weapons around with them on a night out.

The knife arches also aimed to reduce related violent crime such as personal robbery and assault, and provide reassurance to the community.
