New guidelines on revenge porn
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published new guidance on revenge porn.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published new guidance on revenge porn.
Revenge porn is the sharing of private, sexual materials, either photos or videos, of another person without their consent and with the purpose of causing embarrassment or distress.
The Criminal Justice and Courts Bill, which is soon to receive Royal Assent, will create a specific offence for revenge porn and ensure those found guilty can be sentenced to up to two years in prison.
The guidance, which takes the form of a factsheet and was published on Tuesday (February 3), introduces the details of the new offence and outlines the differences between new legislation and the range of existing laws currently used to prosecute the crime.
It also warns police officers to expect an increase in reporting of revenge porn as a result of a MoJ public awareness campaign.
The Crown Prosecution Service updated its own guidance last year.
